Bridging the Divisions of the Diaspora (feat. Edosa Osemwegie)
Monday Oct 10, 2022
Monday Oct 10, 2022
Diaspora (noun): the dispersion of a people from their original homeland.
Africa is by no means a monolith; there is an amazing diversity of people and culture both on the continent and across the world. Though the distinctions of the various African cultures should be acknowledged and celebrated, it is also important to highlight the commonalities and build community among all of Africa's children and that is precisely what Edosa Osemwegie is doing with Diaspora Massachusetts. What started as a photo/video shoot has blossomed into engaging community with an online and real world presence. In this interview we discuss Edosa's unique upbringing, the development of his identity and how both of those things inform the work he is doing today.

Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Over one year and 20 episodes later, I've decided it's time to highlight my own voice. I started this podcast as a way to explore my curiosity in how other people choose to express themselves through their work and passions. I've had the privilege to interview people ranging from longtime friends to people I met for the first time the day of the interview, and over through that process, have learned so much about myself. In this episode I highlight the story of how this podcast came to be and some of my thoughts and observations that have developed over the last year.

With over 1000 points scored in high school and college, the UMass record for most 3 point field goals made in a single game, and the second most career 3 point field goals made in UMass history, Carl Pierre is a certified bucket... he's also never beaten me in a one on one.
Carl is one of the many friendships I made in high school that has become a bond closer to brotherhood than anything else. I was fortunate enough to be able to watch him grow from the skinny freshman who could lose to me if I got lucky to a professional basketball player. If there's one thing I learned from watching his development up close, it's the value of deciding on a goal and putting all possible effort towards achieving it. In this interview, Carl and I recap the experiences that molded him into the man he is and allowed him to accomplish all the things he has up to this point.

It’s Okay to be Weird! (feat. Katrina Kincade): Global Renaissance Podcast Episode 15
Wednesday Apr 13, 2022
Wednesday Apr 13, 2022
For most people, the thought of doing anything in front of a large audience is anxiety-inducing–Katrina Kincade is not most people. From reporting the news on TV to competing in pageants across the country, Katrina relishes the opportunity to publicly display her bubbly personality. She has won multiple awards for her journalistic exploits and just recently became the newest reporter for CBS Boston! In addition to her reporting career, Katrina currently holds the crown as Miss Cambridge and will be competing for Miss Massachusetts in July. While her personal accolades are all quite impressive, what's most commendable about Katrina is her commitment to authenticity and highlighting issues that matter across all the platforms she has built for herself.

Success is a moving target and looks different for everyone, but to have written and self-published a book, become President of Harvard College's Undergraduate Council, and be accepted into Harvard Law School all by the age of 22 is quite a string of successes by any metric. Born and raised in Hattiesburg, MS, Noah Harris has done more than overcome the odds, he is a living example of what success looks like.
In this episode of The Global Renaissance Podcast, Noah and I discuss his upbringing and how the support and guidance from his community ushered him into positions of leadership from a young age and led him to some of his more recent endeavors. Noah is a published author; his book Successville teaches children to understand that no matter how you measure success, it is attainable through hard work and belief. He is also the first Black Man to be elected President of Harvard University's Undergraduate Council and will be attending Harvard Law School in 2024.
Our conversation was loaded with gems and important insights, if you enjoyed the episode please leave a like and comment any feedback, and don't forget to subscribe to the channel!

It is not everyday that you come across someone who has been ranked the number one athlete in their country or someone who is the founder of a startup company, Chris Egi is both. Coming from just outside of Toronto, Chris was the top ranked high school basketball player in Canada by his sophomore year and eventually landed at Montverde Academy in Florida for his senior year where he played with the likes of D'Angelo Russell and Ben Simmons. Chris played his college ball at Harvard University, becoming captain in his senior season and winning the 2017-18 Ivy League title. After graduating college in 2018, Chris decided to forgo a professional basketball career and go to work for Goldman Sachs where he was able to work on helping startup companies get funding to get off the ground. It was this experienced that helped drive Chris to launch his own company, Waiv, which he is currently building with his cofounders. Throughout our conversation, Chris provides insight into the lessons he learned from the different chapters in his life and how they built on each other to lead to where he is now.

Collaboration, Creativity, Artistry & Identity (feat. 4onzii & Juiceboy Jordan): GRP #12
Wednesday Mar 16, 2022

One of my favorite things about the world of art is that there is so much room for diversity and collaboration, and my two guests for this episode are perfect examples of that. Though they are not biologically related, Phonse and Jordan are about as close as any two brothers could be. Phonse (artist name 4onzii) is primarily a recording artist and Jordan is his musical consultant, but neither of them allow these titles to box them in as they have a number of other creative exploits in which they are engaged. In our conversation we reflect on the different people and experiences that have influenced both men, they creative journeys thus far, and their outlook for the future.
